Mixed Media Artwork Raven Native

Comments About This Piece

There is no other medium with the depth and luminosity of encaustic, which is the first known form of painting. Every layer of wax has been heat-sealed with a blowtorch, iron or heat-gun. Each piece is unique. The raven/crow is significant in many cultures and prominent in Greek, Celtic, Norse, Pacific Northwest and Roman mythology. I feel these corvidae creatures have a sense of humor. I admire their adaptability and cleverness; and also their kindness (when fed, they sometimes return gifts). This piece is done on a solid wood panel and the edges are finished with clear encaustic medium. It comes ready to hang, or can be displayed on a shelf or surface.

One-of-a-kind

A one-of-a-kind artwork is a unique piece handmade by the artist. There is only one in existence. The work may be part of a series, however, the piece itself is unlike any other. This piece is available exclusively at UGallery.
